Los Angeles County Launches Inclusive Hiring Initiatives for Neurodivergent Individuals

Los Angeles County is advancing inclusive employment with fresh initiatives supporting neurodivergent residents and those with criminal histories.

Supervisor Janice Hahn championed a new Neurodiversity Hiring Pilot Program, gaining full Board approval. This effort aims to connect neurodivergent applicants with roles that fit their talents, involving departments like Aging and Disabilities, Economic Opportunity, and the County Library.

The program will develop best practices, identify required accommodations, and measure outcomes to ensure effective workforce integration for neurodivergent individuals.

The Fair Chance Ordinance, active since September 3, 2024, targets hiring discrimination against people with past convictions, expanding local job access through new compliance rules.

The County’s Youth@Work program also continues to support young residents, including those with disabilities, by offering paid work and enrichment opportunities across sectors.

Altogether, these steps highlight a bold commitment to a more equitable and diverse local workforce.
